Finally! I'm usually against Youtube's heavyhanded censoring, but these videos are sick and disgusting. I'm removing Youtube for my kids until this is satisfactorily fixed.

Don't worry: there's no requirement for one single cure-all.

http://www.haneycodes.net/npm-left-pad-have-we-forgotten-how...

is a nice article on the subject of left-pad. If you can't implement a left-pad in less than 5 minutes yourself, you don't know how to code.

Just because you _can_ spend 5 minutes re-inventing the wheel in every project you write, doesn't mean you _should_.

That's hardly consumer hardware...

Being able to send any amount money anywhere all over the world with no fees or restrictions and with great privacy isn't interesting?

Transactions won't be free. Somebody has to do some mining. Some googling indicates that a typical bitcoin transaction costs about two dollars today. In my experience, paying money via Paypal or credit card costs about the same.

Proof-of-Stake (as opposed to Proof-of-Work) will change that.

> Some googling indicates that a typical bitcoin transaction costs about two dollars today.

This is because Bitcoin reached the limit of transactions that can fit in a block, which causes a bottleneck, which increases fees. This has been fixed for other cryptocurrencies, and Bitcoin will soon (August 1st) fix it.

>Great privacy != public ledger of every transaction >No fees? have you even looked at the state of btc currently?

Sucking investor money.

Like Uber?

If you have a patent then sue Disney for Rogue One.

sold, 2012.

All those technically harder routes are like 50 metres high. Sure there are 350 people that could theoretically manage this climb technical skill-wise, but I'm also 100% certain none of those 350 would be able to accomplish this incredible feat endurance-wise or mentally for four hours and 1000+ meters and absolutely 0 mistakes, while I'm also certain that if Honnold puts his mind to it he will be able to climb those technically harder routes.

Sounds like Indiana Jones. Data mining ancient databases.

The Optane available currently isn't in DIMM-format which is expected to give a further boost though.

This is true. Bypassing the page cache and VFS will be a net win. But all my storage needs can't be done in MMAPs
