Hey Folks. Thomas from IDrive. Just wanted to point out that we offer private key encryption to our users. That means no one, not even Condoleezza Rice, can access your data except you.

But what happens if I lose my key? Is my data inaccessible forever after?

Yes that would be the case. For the user's security, we do not store their private key on our servers. But we make sure to give ample warning about this circumstance on our private key page. Hope that helps!

We also offer private key encryption so the files you backup can only be accessed by you. This is a much securer online backup option.

"...nearly all have the same problem, which is that any data you upload can be decrypted by the provider. In the event of a bug or a breach, anyone could have access to your files."

Hi, I'm Thomas from IDrive Online Backup. If you're concerned about the privacy of your data while using OS X Yosemite, you might want to consider IDrive as a cloud backup service. We offer 256-bit AES encryption with a private key option so the key to your data is not stored anywhere but locally on your computer. Hope that helps!
