They hardly pay taxes in the U.S. so they deserve no protection. In fact, I'd encourage Iran to attack them. You didn't pay? You're delinquent? No I will not protect you, ya gotta pay.

The us cant even protect its own military assets...

Also, why are US corporations operating in Israel? I think Iran is justified in their actions but also feel it benefits us in the US to have US corporations hire here instead of in Israel. It also removes the moral hazard of having to work with an apartheid state engaged in a genocide.

Gambling = investing. Buying stocks is also gambling. Share buybacks, dividends, fancy words for forking money from workers to some joe schmoe that bought a lottery ticket, i.e., a stock.

A stock is ownership in a business, same as ownership in a house. It is an asset that you own.

When you bet on blackjack or the superbowl, you own nothing and are simply wagering on the outcome of an event.

Gambling and equity ownership are not the same.

There's more to stock trading than just "buy and hold". Not all investing has gambling motivations but it is absolutely used as gambling tool by many

You can gamble on literally anything. Stock prices is just one such vehicle.

Yeah but AT&T is doing fine.

But DEI is what made JD Vance who he is today. To quote an article: "The truth is, if it was not for the Yellow Ribbon Program I would not be going to law school."

https://www.politifact.com/article/2025/feb/19/ask-politifac...

Why are they trying to destroy it? Are they saying that they do not want more DEI, JD Vance-type people, that one is enough?

> To quote an article: "The truth is, if it was not for the Yellow Ribbon Program I would not be going to law school."

That's not DEI. This program is about helping ex-military to find new employment.

DEI is about "we do not have enough racial / gender diversity at this company / office / organisation / employment level".

It absolutely is. I’m a disabled (technically, but not in any meaningful way) veteran, and you’d best believe that the first time I decided to mark those two boxes on job applications, my callback rate skyrocketed.

Please see my answer to someone else - "My message was specifically about the Yellow Ribbon Program, not if DEI includes people with disabilities.".

I assume that you're USA-based. Is there any chance that there're any state-sponsored programs for employers hiring people with disabilities?

I do still see a large difference between: - giving companies some benefits to cover the additional costs of having a disabled person working for them

vs

- requiring 40% women quota in board of directors: https://www.imd.org/ibyimd/diversity-inclusion/women-on-euro...

Again, my original statement was about what the JD Vance program is and what is not.

Veterans are included in DEI hiring practices. As are disabilities.

If you've applied for a job in the past 10 years surely you've had to declare your gender, ethnic background, veteran status, and disability status.

> Veterans are included in DEI hiring practices. As are disabilities.

My message was specifically about the Yellow Ribbon Program, not if DEI includes people with disabilities.

> If you've applied for a job in the past 10 years surely you've had to declare your gender, ethnic background, veteran status, and disability status.

I did not. I believe that here, in Switzerland, it'd be illegal to ask for your gender or ethnicity. Age is legal, although not often practiced in IT. Veteran status - not a thing.

Agile had the scrummaster role. The authors of the Agile manifesto said that this role was supposed to rotate in the group of coders and eventually be phased out once the group got used to the process. The agile process in its final form has no managers.

That's Scrum, not Agile. Scrum is a way to, theoretically, get to or introduce Agile concepts but it is not the entirety of Agile (either the theoretical or practical forms).

Also, you can edit your comments which is better than tacking on additional self-replies just a minute or two after.

>We don't accept that kind of risk anymore in the US

3 years of coronavirus in the US seems to disagree with this statement

Seems like BITCOIN has crashed to very low values recently as well: https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/harrypotterobamasonic10...

A super-inefficient personalized poison.

How do you know that?

For some people, a tiny amount of peanuts is deadly. The rest of us can gorge on them without any ill effects whatsoever.

Perhaps there many other such substances that cause a runaway reaction in a tiny minority of people. We do not know.

Seems like you have a very firm grasp of what can and cannot be done with a person's DNA.

Yes? I got a phd in biophysics, studying the structure and function of DNA, and have donated my genome to science (publicly available for anybody to analyze).
