To solve this, the rental company could show a picture of the worst thing you could end up with in that class. Leaves the disappointment out with a statistically high chance you ending up with something better.

What's your take on insurance - do you buy it?

Never - I have it through my own car insurance. If I didn't have that I would probably buy it from the rental agency, not sure if there are other sources that are cheaper.

This is a big issue for me as well. Even with something Silvercar; I still had to take a shuttle.

I think what you're going to find out is letting go will actually be a huge relief. You're going to bumble around feeling like a worthless piece of shit for a few weeks and then ideas will start boiling over in your mind. Before you know it you'll be writing a business plan or prototyping something new and you'll be armed with this failure as a roadmap of what not to do. You sir will be a-ok.

PS. Not having any money at least once in your life is something everyone should go through. You'll be surprised at how well you eat and live when you thought you'd be homeless. You'll also realize how much bullshit you have in your house or services you pay for that you really don't need. Good luck - you won't need it.

Completely agree. It's amazing what we don't need and I'll expect you find your confidence in 12 months is through the roof. The shackles you thought were binding you are were actually made of sand.

So all the very best, and remember this will be an awesome war story for you to tell in the future.

Remember Sparrow?

sure

Yeah, a currency that has no transactional cost from a third party thus offering a 2-4% discount to either buyer, seller or split by both, that maintains one value globally, and isn't controlled buy a particular nations government, probably is of no interest to the retailers of the world and likely just inflated bits that will never become an actual system of payments down the road. If you believe that, I have a plethora of REAL investments to sale you.

> I don't doubt that Bitcoin will become a revolutionary system of payments and money storage down the track

The tone I get from your comment makes me wonder if you really understood what GP meant. You could be both right, as in BTC being very useful to a lot of people, but still overinflated.

I hear you, but the author of the comment heavily edited his post. That's not what it initially said. Either way, we all have our views. With something like BTC the future is unknown and thus just fun to discuss. It's great to engage with you and everyone else here. Theres's obviously a pool of great minds in the HN community.

I think if you just look at the shear number of followers mainstream (i.e. CNN) and alt (Vice) news accounts have or the same for financial news accounts, it becomes pretty obvious that a huge number of Twitter users rely on it for REALLY important information. I don't look at customized Feedly or Flipboard type aggregators anymore, and why would I? The information I get from who I follow on Twitter is available sooner, is summarized and usually has the option to dive deeper. While we can see that celebrities have huge follower counts, because their accounts are often water down by third parties, it seems logical that people follow them as a way to just say they 'like' them and not as a source of important information.

What is the value of code that can cause revolutions, sway financial markets, and spread P2P information across the world instantly? How can any analyst know when there's no comp? Answer: they can't. I'd sell the hell out of $TWTR right now because the analysts are going to fill the news cycle with negetivity and the smart money is slobbering over short potential. Once it finds a bottom however, I'd double down on it and get ready to wake up daily to a green ticker.

It's noticeable for sure. My Samsung 830 SSD took a pretty serious hit in transfer rates. New full flash based Mac's like my late '13 retina i7 seems to handle it pretty well, though, there's still a noticeable difference. Worth it? Absolutely. If you do end up doing it - when prompted, I would recommend against saving your encryption key to iCloud.

Goggles?

Crowdsourced Goggles!

What if your friends are bumbling idiots or sarcastic bastards? I can already see it now "Hey guys, what are these two round concrete mounds near the ocean?" friends: "Huge tits? idk wtf, google it".
