" because you actually enjoy using JavaScript? "

You sick bastard!

I hate PHP and don't even want to talk about it but I did skim through the docs for Smarty. The rationale is that PHP sucks as a template engine, so why not create a new one and use PHP for the model-controller/whatever.

Maybe that seems perverse, but you have stuff like Node.js in existence that oddly enough solves some problems quite nicely, so maybe it works for PHP guys. I'll never see the appeal compared to other languages though.

edit: That being said, the final result looks kind of horrible to me.

Completely unrelated: I'm not easily offended. Right now I'm not offended at all, in case anyone would interpet this post to mean so. I'm all OK. Really.

But that said: I'm severely puzzled about your choice of HN username.

Breivik is a fairly common last name. There are actually 8 men in Norway who have Anders as their first name, and Breivik as their last name.[1]

It could just be his name, that coincide with the more famous one. It can happen.

I don't think it implies Charlie agreed at all, it actually implies the opposite. That's quite an ugly statement.

I'd personally be very hesitant to partner with Adam after reading this, considering how this incident played out. Well... who am I kidding, if I had the opportunity to found the next Quora I'd jump on it, but I'd be watching for knives the whole time..

In my experience knowing people who have chosen both ways (not the same person of course), watching for knives is a sad sad way to live.

Would someone have the power to oust Charlie unwillingly? I dont know much about how the company was split up so am wondering.

The drama of these tech companies bores me except insofar as it relates to my personal account. Don't founders leave companies all the time, especially when theyve already made a lot of money? Also I feel like at some point all these decisions are mutual.

"I'd personally be very hesitant to partner with Adam after reading this"

I dunno, there's clearly a risk there based on his apparent behaviour here, but there's also an obvious opportunity - who'd _not_ want a cofounder who's not only prepared but also able to dump $400mil into his own B round?

I think you mean $40mil since the total was only 50.

Au contraire, "nothing succeeds like success."

This is way, way nicer IMO.

Now to track down and murder the designers of Ribbon and we can start building a new UX utopia >_>

This is strange. I've never been a Mac person. I've built and modded PCs since I was a teenager. I didn't really remember the Cube and have googled it just now.

(back in the day Macs were for oldies who didn't know what the hell they were doing on a computer so Apple products didn't really register with me at the time)

My first impressions are that it looks like a plastic rubbish bin.

I always loved the G5 tower though.

Take a slice of that rubbish bin's midsection, and you have the Mac Mini. Tilt that Mac Mini on its side, perforate either end, then add some handles, and you've got the G5.

You can play this game with just about everything Apple has sold since this machine was introduced. Virtually all of it has some design cue that can be traced back to the Cube, and no further. It really was the Genesis Box.

Sweet lord, put the jug of juice down son.

Ive's work in plastics hasn't held up as well since the switch to metal and glass, but at the time it was a remarkable, groundbreaking example of industrial design. The next year, of course, they launched the titanium PowerBook that spearheaded that transition, though it would take about a decade for plastics to be phased out entirely.

I love listening to music from the 60s. The 1760s, that is.

(joke stolen from GTA, but it's true)
