Given how Japan handled the Diamond Princess situation, it's a foregone conclusion they are not equipped to handle it, so more than likely the Olympics will be cancelled. They just can't risk it. Athletes/Peoples safety can't be risked, the "Olympic" brand cant be risked.

There’s that plus all the qualifying events globally that have to take place between now and then...

Wouldn’t not canceling it when they should have be a better example of them not being able to handle the situation?

Athletes are one thing.

The international flocking of people to one already overcrowded location is another.

Japanese Gov’t seems yet to decide whether to go cannonball or call it off entirely, currently bit on cannonball side which is how this deadline story came up.

If cancelled, this’ll be the second time an Olympic Games in Tokyo is cancelled, that I personally find hilarious, but a lot will be fuming embarrassed, especially if historians later likely is to mark it an uneducated overreaction.

Well said, the tech is not ready for what people are trying to use it for (for the most part). The problems people are trying to solve is still best served by clever algorithms + data.

The object descended from 28000FT to 50FT at 24000 miles per hour with instant acceleration, no signs of thrust or even wings. According to the reports, for me its whether you believe the reports from those that saw it or not. If you choose to believe them, then it's hard to believe the earth tech to allow this was possible in 2004.

I'd like to discuss this further with you privately if you are so inclined. Email is in my profile. Send me something if you'd like to discuss further. cheers

Kudos to Parse/Facebook for a somewhat graceful exit.

However, i find it extremely foolish to shut this down completely from Facebook's point of view.

Sure redeploy all the gun developers to other FB products, but you can't tell me FB could not afford to hire some devs to maintain this service. They could have sold the service to another company too.

This just gives Facebook more bad vibes from the dev community.

Yeah but with apple you hear people loved working there even if jobs was harsh. Looks like there's a balance between getting the most out of people and just creating a toxic work atmosphere.

100% agree, a solar powered siren connected to the GSM phone network in the middle of the beach you'd think would be more useful.

No no no. No Siren, they must play the Jaws theme!

+ the adrenalin rush when running from trouble (the fun in danger)

No. It's completely smoke and mirrors and the method he claims to have done cannot deliver reliable answers. He refuses to approve any comments at all which are critical of him or his blog post, and has not corrected factual mistakes in it. the analysis is fairly flawed. the words are naturally related, because of the topic. szabo might have collaborated on the project, but its hard to tell. his counter arguments to bitcoin are quite convincing (which of course implies he is not satoshi).
