What shell are you running this under? Unquoted exclamation marks will do things that may be outside your intent for this script. It’ll still fail, just perhaps not in the way you expect.


You mean due to history substitution? If so: I have never seen that kick in in a script. Only in interactive shells.


Cisco is doing some cool things in open source and let us (read: the team at aster.is who wrote that) do it mostly how we see fit.

Somehow, though, convincing them to use a language that almost never has any runtime errors was not a hard sell.


because prior to the new User implementation in 1.5, you couldn't change the length of the username CharField. Long emails wouldn't fit.
