If my background is not traditional(went from being a professional chef to an iOS dev), can I still apply for the internship or new grad position? Oscar as a company interests me a ton, just not sure which position I should apply to.
Hi - please feel free to apply to the 'new grad' position - we always make sure to take background into consideration throughout the interview process.
No need for iOS at this time, but we do need Android developers. Most of our work is deployed or working with organizations and individuals in lower-income environments, so the priority is on Android. We'd like to develop equivalents of our Android apps for iOS but it's not justifiable at this stage.
If I do not have a traditional CS background but am very interested in applying for a position at Oscar, should I apply for the New Grad or Summer Internship position? I did a 9-month fellowship, so a lot longer than most bootcamps in NYC.
For the mobile engineer role, would you consider someone who is a junior dev? I'm open to learning different technologies, although I am an iOS developer.
I'm a junior developer, but am extremely passionate and motivated to constantly be learning. I've contributed to open source and am currently working on a interview flashcards app, which is open source! I'm in a very active Slack channel for iOS devs, where I try and answer questions, as well as ask good questions of my own.
Would you be willing to speak to a junior iOS Developer? I have about 1.5 years of self-taught experience, but I also did a 10-month intensive program. I've been doing a lot of open source recently, and would love to chat.
