Github is a glorified repository. Sorry, but any "social network" that requires code pushes isn't intended for that. :)

I think you can remove the word "else" from the last sentence. ;o

This works out to $7.50 per Path user. ...yyyyyeah.

I don't see the need for that either; I'm referring to sharing things in a more visual way (Pinterest), making new code available (Github), adding friends and likeminded folks (Facebook), discussing topics in groups (LinkedIn).

The obvious answer to why is, no one's built it yet. Forrst supposed fill the showing off things in pictures void (plus it's exclusive, just like Facebook used to be). Github comes pretty close, you can even have a personal page (though updating has be done via pushes).

A feature I'd like to see in such a site is a repository/tool for defining syntax rules & colorschemes for editors.

This is biting Dropbox in the arse in more ways than one: Dropbox has had years to improve their service, add a huge amount of features, and take this concept to new heights. What have they done? Redesigned their Web site? Gee.

Absolutely agree! This is good news IMO - Google has far more storage redundancy than Dropbox does, that's for sure. In a pinch, who do you trust to make sure your data isn't kaput? The answer is obvious.

What's more redundant than having a copy of the file saved across every device you own. It's not like the information is lost if dropbox's servers go down for a short period of time. I've never had a problem with dropbox, so far in my eyes their track record has been good. The problem that Google will have is that Dropbox is extremely simple, that's what it has going for it. The simplicity of folder synchronization is going to be hard to beat in my opinion, unless they copy the model.

They will keep your data, redundantly, forever. Only your account and access to your own data (including gmail) will be kaput.

>Google will assign a real person to talk to if you have more than ~30M views / month or something.

...or if you pay for their paid services (Google Apps).

Any mobile app developers get rejected? I'm involved with a new VC co standing up a soon-to-launch fund called WeHeartApps Fund that is focusing on early-stage mobile app/game developers. Feel free to email me at dane@villainhq.com (still getting our @glidecapital email set up).

No offense but your product seems like a Tumblr clone. Not much to do with social networking at all, it appears.

No offense taken at all. Tumblr allows anyone and everyone to create an account and participate on their network. Which is awesome. We are strictly focused on people. Rank and influence in areas you are passionate about will be a big part of Seshn. Also, Tumblr puts a strong emphasis on reblogging, which totally makes sense for them. Not for us. We want people to put value in creating original content themselves and not just sharing a bunch of things that have been shared over and over again. That is so noisy. Thanks for your comment. I really appreciate it!
