I think there’s a few of us who appreciate you being up front. I’d question the intent and why it was a mistake, especially when the commit[0] message reverting said functionality states “widespread criticism” citing this very HN article makes it look seemingly like the revert is due to negative PR opposed to a mistake.
No different to preventing game studios being liable for mass shootings. Reminds me of the post-Columbine hysteria where media was super critical of Doom and Nine Inch Nails.
Except that there was no link between violent video games and mass shootings. It has been shown many times. The families blamed the video games despite there being no direct evidence of it. The games did not tell them they should go on a mass murdering spree any more than porn told you you should sleep with your cousin.
In this case there are several documented cases where the AI did over a long period of time progressively gaslight the individual and persuade them to commit suicide.
Bless! Absolutely love this, and an absolutely no disrespect, this is vibe code goodness! These are the kinds of things I have an absolute ball building, usually when I’m sitting on the couch at the end of the day duel screening.
What’s the data source? Assuming NASA being NASA they have a public API for the mission?
I think we must be of a similar generation, I also remember being a kid seeing those stupid ads with celebrities “bending their finger”. It’s really gross to think how normalised gambling is.
There is another side to this though, and that’s our pub culture and how “big gambling” plays a role in keeping pubs financially viable with the help of pokies. In the wise words of Tim Whitlam, “Blow up the pokies”
I’m very much an Odoo guy who has dabbled with Django (and notably, celery in the past) but as someone who makes huge use of the Odoo OCA queue module[0], I never understood why Django never made use of the Postgres LISTEN/NOTIFY to offload tasks. Maybe this is my misunderstanding as I’m pretty green with the Django ecosystem as a whole.
It almost seems intentionally AI? If anything, if my job at Maccas…ahem, McDonald's (sorry, spot the Aussie) is in marketing, I’d expect to to be promptly fired if this wasn’t expected to pass for anything less than satire.
