Exactly. Meta won't do it for the same reason. Liability alone, imagine all the copyright lawsuits...

Secondly the dataset for now has a lot of competitive advantage.

In a way it seems like a good thing that AI giants compete on methodology now.

I've learned to speak some Mandarin. What helped me a lot while talking is using Google's Translate function to see if I get the tone right.

It's free and fast. It's very helpful when you want quick feedback.

I learned a lot from it about the pronunciation of consonants as well. The k-sound has way more air in it. You need to pronounce it as "kh". Same thing with the t-sound.

I just came back from a trip to China and it was noticeable how much more people understood me. Still need to work on vocabulary though...

Well, if you are Dutch, all other consonants from all other languages need a lot more aspiration ;)

You can even use Google Translate's text to speech API in whatever learning program you build for yourself:

  GET https://translate.google.com/translate_tts?ie=UTF-8&tl=zh_CN&client=tw-ob&q=<url encoded text>
This returns an audio/mpeg (mp3) response. Change the language code as appropriate.

It's not the most natural sounding TTS engine, but it's free, unauthenticated and trivial to use.

What Google's Translate function are you talking about? Voice input?

When you look up a word there's a speaker icon that you press to hear the translated words.

I have done intermittent fasting, but I lose too much weight while doing so. I really liked the benefits. Especially fasted cardio feels so good.

I'm already fairly slim (1.90m and <80kg) and become a complete stick man after doing this. Anybody know how to do this and how to stay in shape at the same time.

> Especially fasted cardio feels so good.

I noticed this too, if you mean the after effect. It almost got me a little worried though, since the good feeling is probably caused by a release of endorphins, which should usually get released as a response to pain. But I'm not sure.

Just to add, it is possible to gain weight while doing intermittent fasting. You just have to eat more :) Maybe add a meal so you don't eat 3x a day but 4x. The other tactics is to add 50g of some nuts to 2-3 meals a day, like walnuts, almonds, cashews...

I gave it a try as well, after reading an article on getting more energetic throughout the day.

I didn't notice the difference and the cold showers are not something I could get used to. Guess it's different for each person.

Did sth similar here with a XPS15 (9530). Installed Ubuntu 15.10 on it, most of it works pretty smooth. A second screen is a bit of a hassle if you don't get a 3200x1800-one. Besides that I didn't really have issues. Touch also works fine ;)
