It doesn’t solve all the issues you mention, but YouTube Search Fixer [1] [2] is a browser extension that at least lets you remove irrelevant results, Shorts, live streams, and more from search. It makes results a bit more usable.

Just read the description and OMG soo much crap, thank you so much for this. I guess when I filter these dopamine leeches in my mind I kind of lump them together
Not exactly what you’re looking for, but Pocket Tube [1] [2] is a browser extension that lets you organize your subscriptions into custom groups. You can then browse non-algorithmic feeds showing the latest uploads from each group, which makes things much easier to manage and filter.
Hope this helps.

Hi! My name is Pablo. I’m a Product and UX Designer currently working on Maxxmod [1], a browser extension that gives users more control over the YouTube interface by reducing clutter, removing distractions, and adding features the platform doesn’t offer.
I’ve already completed the research, business model, competitive analysis, feature set, branding, and the full UI (40+ screens).
The MVP/V1 is currently in development. When the V1 is ready I’m planning to do a Show HN with this account.
It's my first product. Any feedback or questions are very welcome, even if it's just based on the idea and the screenshots on the site, since the product isn’t available to try yet.
Unhook is solid. I’m building Maxxmod [1] (shameless plug). The goal is similar in spirit, but with more granular control, a structured admin panel with live previews.
Still in development, but feedback from the HN crowd is very welcome. The site includes interactive prototypes and screenshots that give a clear picture of what it’s aiming to become.
Sorry, I initially mixed it up Unhook with UnTrap [1] because of the similar name. UnTrap's Chrome version seems maintained (February 2026 [2]), while the Firefox version seems abandoned too (December 2024 [3]).
One of my goals with Maxxmod is to avoid that abandonment pattern.
