To create an AI that people will want to use, we need people to use it so we get better data, improve it, and learn how to control models. It’s a catch-22. I definitely don’t want AI tabs in Firefox but I can see why all this might be necessary because of massive potential for a superintelligence to solve problems or open new doors we didn’t know existed. But then we have to ask ourselves if these new pathways for humanity are so far removed from what humans can accomplish on their own, is there pride in a new revolution akin to the human derived pride in what we have accomplished on our own for the Industrial Revolution, for example, or even just petrol or nuclear power discovery?

Video stores had value even if it was to overhear a random side comment on a movie that's popular in the real world by the voice of another human being. The subscription model should pay us, they isolate us and tell us how to think and view the world. I'm not paying for that.

Call it something clever, LAN party 2.0 maybe?

Get sponsors: energy drinks, Cisco for switching unless using wifi

Set goals, host presentations showing what was developed or learned from last session

Thanks for the suggestions! LAN party 2.0 is such a fun name Right now I only have about 10 people for the very first session, so I feel a bit shy about approaching sponsors just yet. When you mentioned “set goals” — could you share a bit more detail on what kind of goals you’ve found useful? For example, is it more like giving everyone a clear topic for the session, or setting longer-term goals like building projects together?

I tried to read this but it's difficult. There's a lot of struggle to define what it is and what it is not and I think the answer is simple. It's entertainment.

So can I make a realistic plant mech mobile suit now?

Time to fire up Tomb of the Taskmaker

I loved that game!
