Even Hitler's army, which attacked large parts of Europe in WW2, was called the Wehrmacht ("defense force" - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wehrmacht). But, as a famous German who was almost 150 years older than Hitler already knew, "Namen sind Schall und Rauch" ("names are but sound and smoke").
You can already hear the pseudo-theories, justifying the differences for eternity. Blue blooded, of lazy blood, etc. Apply yourselfs and you will win.. adding insult to injury, when you can not win, you must in addition be lazy with only yourself to blame.
Ok, I would be happy with an approximate location too. On that map, I would place France in Europa right beside the mediterraneum, pretty much on the Occidens side (although not at the very edge).
Well, to ask you again, what do you think "an approximate location" would mean? How would the labeling be done?
It's easy enough to take the rob74 position of "I'm going to choose an arbitrary point on this artist's conception and paste a 'you are here' sticker over it", but what would be the point?
If you use node, you can do that... until someone decides to add eslint to the pipeline and you get thousands of formatting "errors" that you have to "fix".
I'm a bit sad that the US now look less reliable (and, on average, more of a net negative) than China, but I can't blame anyone who has that impression right now. As long as the guy who sets the long term objectives is reasonably sane, I guess? Putin attacked Ukraine, Trump (and Bibi) attacked Iran, I'm hoping Xi is smarter and doesn't attack Taiwan, otherwise we can all say good bye to our jobs, and who "wins" AI will be the least important question on our minds...
It’s all about appearances isn’t it. America has dropped more bombs than China. When did China bomb a country last time? But appearances change and that is sad.
The only thing that changed was that America turned on its client states and started saying unhinged shit instead of appearances-speeches like spreading freedom and democracy.
Edit: replaced “has bombed more countries than China” with “dropped more bombs”
America’s goal is to rule the world through a hegemony built on fear and violence. With the current administration, it’s just that the mask has slipped.
Americans are all the same really, it doesn’t matter who voted for who: FIX your shit, fix your society. Stop oppressing the world with destructive capitalism. And yea maybe that means you have to slow down and live a little more inconveniently, but it will be for the betterment of the world.
I think China has too much to gain by looking like the word's stable alternative to America. What really gets me depressed is their current trajectory towards cultural homogeneity, even internally. There seems to be a real push to calcify the Han identity. I don't know why dictators are so drawn to homogenizing their own cultures when nature itself seems to point to diversity as strength. It leaves me still kind of hoping America is somehow able to pull its head out of its ass, but they'll have to overcome their own oligarchy and entrenched structures - Trump was a symptom.
I last had that on a (rented) Fiat 500: the "standard" controls (including the monochrome LCD in the instrument panel) looked really clunky and old-fashioned, and all the advanced features (audio, navigation, mobile phone connectivity, not sure if it had a backup camera) were via the (third party, Pioneer) entertainment system which was state-of-the-art with a nice high-res touchscreen. That's probably because this was the more expensive version of the car, I guess the "basic" version only has a radio - no navigation, no backup camera, no nothing. Not sure if it's the same principle at work at Toyota, I haven't driven one in a while?
Yeah, we are getting to the point where you having a 4K monitor for your editor becomes a requirement rather than a "nice to have". Until now you have the agent, the editor and files/git/whatever, if you add a fourth panel to that, it becomes pretty cramped at lower resolutions. Fortunately, I do have a 4K monitor, but until now I used to have the editor on one half of it and another window (a browser most of the time) on the other half. So having to use the editor full screen is still slightly annoying.
Of course, that's only the default layout. I'm not familiar enough with Zed, but there's probably a way to change it? In JetBrains IDEs, you can configure panels to sit at the top left/bottom left/left bottom/right bottom/bottom right/top right side and show/hide them with one click (if only one panel on the respective side is shown, it will take up the full space). So you could have files at the top left and the agent panel at the bottom left. And the code editor is of course still the "centerpiece" in the middle.
