Furthermore, a ton of the "rent seeking" Citrini Research was discussing isn't traditional rent seeking but the cognitive services previously necessary. Software engineering, for instance, falls into that bucket.
Funny how it's a horrible misrepresentation slurring the honor of the United Kingdom to exaggerate the penalty of not unlocking your phone for His Majesty's Law Enforcement, but US border cops being allowed to ask foreigners for the same thing upon pain of not being allowed to enter the country (something that no one seems to care about other nations doing?) is totally the same thing.

This is touched on briefly, the number one reason is that if you can keep deferring your taxes indefinitely then you never have to pay them. Your tax burden is wiped away on death so not only does it not matter to you but your heirs won't be affected either.

Even if I did, I'd be failing to audit what some other evil company is doing.
What is your mental model for this then? If the "2BR shack" can be built from scratch for 300k, and the value for the lot + shack is $3M, then the land value is $2.7M. Most expensive real estate is land value, not actual structure value.
