This becomes part of the problem. China has tried to merge the concept of the country, the people and the government into one homogeneous thing. Now any criticism of the regime is considered "racist"?

In a parallel reality where Germans are a different race, maybe criticizing Nazis is racism.

So "main" is also problematic now? I thought that was the replacement for git's master branch?

I assume they are deprecating "motherboard" as a gendered term, but the replacement of logic board also replaces a bunch of other names for the same thing.

The style guide contains other updates then just "non-inclusive language" [1]. I think the original comment mistakenly included logic board (Apple uses the term logic board instead of mother board/main board).

If you're referring to the mandate to say "logic board," I believe that is just a stylistic choice, not a cancellation of "main" in the sense you're thinking of.

Hah, I see where you're coming from. If your SOC has CPU, GPU, PCIe routing, and networking all packaged up, then the "main" board isn't doing anything all that main anymore. Unexpected sign of the times.

Tiktok is just a rebranded version of the app called 抖音 (Douyin). It's made in China

Ah yes, telling China not to abuse human rights is "bullying" now

The current administration could could care less about human rights. That's obviously not what I'm talking about.

This is because Article 18 of the Basic Law of Hong Kong allows China to promulgate certain laws related to national security. Taiwan doesn't have this.

The Central Government did have the authority under Article 18 of the basic law. Let's not kid ourselves here.

This is hidden whataboutism. The 1967 riots had gotten out of control and the rioters were killing people on a regular basis. This has not happened during the 2019-20 protests.

The new National Security Law actually contradicts the Basic Law (our Constitution) in many ways but the NSA explicitly overrides the Basic Law.

Hong Kong is in the WHO as Hong Kong. Are you saying we aren't part of China?

They're in the WHO as "Hong Kong SAR (China)" and only attended "under its own name" from 1989-1996.

The summary is that before the handover in 1997 everyone was offered a status called British National (Overseas). Anyone who accepted this offer retained their nationality after the handover, and anyone who didn't permanently lost their chance to be a BNO.
