Nothing happens, it’s optional. However if you want to be able to be rehired it doesn’t hurt to do it. It doesn’t take long and you don’t really have to say anything.
The traditional economist/polisci view is that laws favor the middle class (the largest voting group) at the expense of the poor (who don’t benefit from most services) and rich (who pay most taxes).
I do it for around 20% of my PRs. However my employer is complaining that my numbers are below their 100% target. So I am being penalised for trying to keep my skills up.
How are they measuring it? My boss gave me a hard time because I wasn't using enough of my token budget. How do they know what percentage of your pull request was AI written?
Now not all the extra code is necessarily useless (you can imagine some refactoring or perf improvements) but clearly a lot of it is.
We still aren’t very good at knowing how to use AI judiciously.
