I have seen some internal data from one large company that LOC went up 100% but actual features shipped to customers went up only around 10%.

Now not all the extra code is necessarily useless (you can imagine some refactoring or perf improvements) but clearly a lot of it is.

We still aren’t very good at knowing how to use AI judiciously.

Nothing happens, it’s optional. However if you want to be able to be rehired it doesn’t hurt to do it. It doesn’t take long and you don’t really have to say anything.

This would have barely any actual effect since the number of people with such high income is nearly zero.

All it means is they would spend more on tax avoidance schemes which is wasteful.

The traditional economist/polisci view is that laws favor the middle class (the largest voting group) at the expense of the poor (who don’t benefit from most services) and rich (who pay most taxes).

This is very silly. College attendance is at record highs, far above 1980.

At what expense to college loan sufferers?

I do it for around 20% of my PRs. However my employer is complaining that my numbers are below their 100% target. So I am being penalised for trying to keep my skills up.

Your employer is a fucking moron.

Businesses can remain irrational for longer than you can stay solvent.

My life has mostly been making that as not true as possible :)

Tell me something I don’t know

How are they measuring it? My boss gave me a hard time because I wasn't using enough of my token budget. How do they know what percentage of your pull request was AI written?

This is true if you know what you are doing and provide proper guidance. It’s not true if you just want to vibe the whole app.
