"Apple //c" really is how it's written on the screen when you boot it up, though. That's the way Apple themselves actually wrote it.
There were no built-in, on-screen italic fonts back in those days!

I agree: these machine names are Apple ][, ][+, ][e, etc and the //c.

Right! Except the IIe was "IIe", at least in later versions, wasn't it?
