They do have two issues here, I believe: the problem of how to fix this relatively fast having in mind that this might even worse for other than English languages where longer words might be in the use, and the problem inside company because someone who approved this had clearly no idea how this global menu works. I doubt they'd go for application specific toolbar menus or hamburger menus à la GNOME.
