Zeekr 007: This $36,000 Tesla Model 3 Competitor Proves We're Cooked (insideevs.com)

Tesla Model 3 competitor, costing $36K in China - barely $1.5K less than M3, is somehow a proof "we are cooked"? Who do they mean by we? Detroit?

Chinese EV build quality is less than desirable, with dubious after sales service. Youtube is littered with horror stories of air bags malfunctions, axles get knocked out of place on a minor fender bender, spontaneous battery combustions, etc. Proceed with caution.

MG seems doing well in India, 2 electric and other burning dinosaurs, with all the potholes and minor collisions. Which brands/groups are you afraid of?

I mean...I have massive reservations about data privacy when it comes to buying cars manufactured in countries that aren't China.

My thoughts exactly. This also applies to not cars. American (and indeed global) tech companies are security nightmares, and no amount of posturing about china specifically will fix it. "Great job Patrick we saved the city", they said in front of meta after banning TikTok.

Yeah, Tesla literally uploads footage from cameras and uses telemetry in court cases. From that I kind of conclude all the government agencies have access to all of that data as well.

Huh, curious. There were stories of police/courts subpoenaing Amazon for Ring camera footage because of crime near that camera.. I wonder if cops will notice Teslas near crime/accident scenes and ask the company for footage from those cars..

This article, Wow, It sure could have, used a proofreader & editor.

> The Zeekr 007 was tested amid a reporting trip to the Beijing Auto Show, where Geely provided travel and lodging.

Unfortunately, it looks like they didn't pay enough to cover a proofreading.

How long would it take Geely auto to create distributors and repair centers across the usa? And the infrastructure costs and tax on their cars make them a real competitor?

I dont see it happening.

Tesla did it pretty quickly? And they were new; lots of Volvo centers out there..
