I had the great honor of knowing long time Lansing builder and Michigan State trustee Joel Ferguson. He ran Rev. Jackson's 1988 presidential campaign in Michigan. Much to the media's great shock Jackson won the state.

Some of the tactics used were questionable and basically looked like shakedowns for pushing the corporate targets to donate to his entities which then softened his stance around the alleged suboptimal civil rights situations.

Okay. Any organizations that represent the underrepresented not do this, or is there an alternative approach in your opinion?

Alternative approach to steering business to your family (Budweiser franchise) and affiliates (Pepsi underwriting) in exchange for stopping a boycott?

You ask as if these conflicts of interest aren't avoidable.

Are you implying that Jackson had ownership in either of these companies? If so, have you any sources to support this claim?
