My first paid programming gig, at age 18, was porting a DEC VAX BASIC text-only application for generating manufacturing control plans to Visual BASIC. If I recall correctly, some of it was structured using subprograms, but the vast majority of control flow was done using GOTOs. I kept most of the existing logic intact, but factor it out of the menu-driven interface and convert the control flow to higher-level abstractions. Fun times!
